Energy, Construction and Climate Resilience Green Accelerator

Energy, Construction and Climate Resilience Green Accelerator is led by Beamline Accelerator, Baltic Innovation Agency (BIA), and Sparkup Tartu Science Park with the mission to empower science-based startups tackling pressing environmental challenges. The programme supports the development and market readiness of green technologies in the fields of energy, construction, and climate resilience. By combining Estonia’s startup potential with targeted green tech expertise, the accelerator aims to contribute to the European Union’s green transition goals and climate neutrality targets.

Energy, Construction and Climate Resilience Green Accelerator addresses the urgent need for innovation in sectors critical to climate action. The energy sector faces the challenge of reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, increasing the share of renewables, and improving energy efficiency. In construction, climate adaptation—especially enhancing infrastructure and buildings’ resilience—is key. The climate resilience sector demands solutions that strengthen preparedness for extreme weather events and long-term environmental shifts.

The accelerator aims to support early-stage science-based startups developing innovative solutions in these sectors by providing substantial non-equity support and tailored development services.

The programme is open to startups registered in Estonia (or willing to register via e-Residency), making it geographically centered in Estonia but internationally accessible.

Baltic Innovation Agency (BIA) is a core programme partner, responsible for co-designing and delivering tailored acceleration services, mentoring, and corporate matchmaking. BIA contributes its extensive experience in startup acceleration, green technology development, and impact assessment to ensure the programme’s strategic relevance and quality.

The objective is to enable the development and scaling of innovative green technologies that support the green transition across key sectors. The programme aims to:

  • Support up to 12 startups with tailored acceleration
  • Provide up to €100,000 worth of non-equity support per team
  • Offer product development, business development, and climate impact assessment services
  • Facilitate access to corporate networks, industry partners, and investor introductions
  • Enhance startup visibility through participation in major startup and tech events

Key methods include intensive mentoring, domain-specific workshops, climate impact advisory, and 1:1 development planning with sector experts.

The long-term impact of the Energy, Construction, and Climate Resilience Green Accelerator lies in its contribution to the green transition of the Estonian and European economies. By enabling the development of scalable, high-impact green solutions, the programme fosters:

  • The reduction of GHG emissions
  • Strengthened climate resilience in critical infrastructure
  • Increased productivity and sustainability in the use of natural resources
  • Enhanced market readiness of emerging green technology companies
  • Strengthened positioning of Estonia as a green innovation leader

Ultimately, the programme supports the creation of a robust ecosystem of green startups ready to drive systemic change across sectors, in line with the European Green Deal and twin transition goals.
